What is TNT MMA Training Center?
TNT MMA Training Center is a martial arts training facility in Phoenix, Arizona. They specialize in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Muay Thai, and Mixed Martial Arts while providing private and group classes for athletes of all ages.
What is our Design Challenge?
Popularized by the UFC in recent years, martial arts has become a sport that people want to try, but there is a lack of education around the sport and stigmatization due to:
- Wide variation in martial arts styles, types, and techniques
- Hesitation from first-time students who lack knowledge of the sport
- Hesitation from parents enrolling their children because of stigmatization of combat sports

Our goal is to audit the existing site and identify areas of improvement in design, UX, accessibility, and usability.

Design Process
Discovery
- Examined the site and created a portfolio of the brands assets and theme
- Analyzed accessibility, usability, and functionality that could be improved
Peer Analysis
- Reviewed websites of other well recognized martial arts schools to identify best practices in design and structure
- Analyzed competitors’ website flows for insights into membership signup
User Personas
Created user personas for both prospective adult students and parents of prospective students
Information Architecture & Site Mapping
- Built a low-fidelity scaffolding of the existing site to assess the overall information architecture and identify points of improvement
- Created a reorganized sitemap with consolidated information and a more intuitive flow
Branding
- Redesigned the logo to be scalable and balanced, and aligned branding with color compliance and accessibility
- Conducted a meeting with the client to make recommendations
